Description

Amaranth reacts with nitrogen and phosphorus. Plants planted in the ground in a typical garden will be four to six feet tall, while those planted in rich soil or compost can reach more than eight feet. Good soil is well-drained soil but both plants will do well in all clay soils that are not well ventilated.

Amaranth is grown from seed. Amaranth seeds can be sown directly in your flower garden, or indoors for later planting. Note, Amaranth plants are susceptible to frostbite. Amaranth prefers warmer climates. If you are planting outdoors, plant Amaranth seeds after the soil has started to warm up in the spring.

We recommend an internal start, six to eight weeks before the last frost in your area.

Sow seeds at the beginning of the season and cover lightly with soil. Space seeds or seedlings separated by 10-12 ounces ".

Amaranth is very easy to grow. They prefer warm weather, full sun, and flowing soil. Water at dry times, once or twice a week. Add regular fertilizer once or twice a season.

Coming from warmer climates, Amaranth is more tolerant of heat and drought.

Amaranth will grow taller, 1-2 feet. They will produce flowers on sturdy, straight stems. The flowers are long-lived, and will bloom from mid-summer until frost.

Amaranth is like a quarter of a lamb and amaranth is like a pig with red roots, especially in the early stages of growth, so it is best to sow the seeds in rows so that the weeds do not get confused. Planting amaranth cultivars with purple leaves also makes germination easier. Since seeds are small, you can avoid much thinning by mixing them with sand or seedlings before sowing, as is sometimes done with carrots. Amaranth and quinoa are very poor care plants but weeds, especially in the beginning, should be discouraged from planting or covering trees.
