Kale seedlings are replanted into floating ponds in a 6 to 12-inch pond that encompasses a large amount of nutrient solution. The water pump is used to circulate the water in the pool and the air pump is also used to keep the system air-conditioned.
In NFT, seedlings are replanted in shallow channels where a thin film of nutrient solution is regularly distributed. Channels are tilted at a certain angle from 1 to 4 percent from the center and are released at the end to return to the water storage area. The advantage of the DWC system is that large volumes of water are used to accelerate changes in water temperature, pH, electrical conductivity (EC) and nutrient solution formation.
Starting with seed is a very good decision as experienced by experienced growers. In a typical garden, kale is usually started with seeds in summer or late spring, in a hydroponic controlled and controlled area you can start in cold December or July or whatever floats on your boat.
Kale seeds germinate best at temperatures between 60 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit, can germinate at low temperatures, up to 40 Fahrenheit but very slowly and with a low germination rate.
